Project SS "Pionier"

Objectives

The primary objective of Project SS "Pionier" is to conduct a historical exploration of the wreck of the steamship SS "Pionier".

It is the projects intention that the exploration shall end up with a complete documentation of the wreck site and to provide information on the physicological effects of deep mixed gas diving.

Primary objective

It is the primary objective to document the state of the wreck. This will be done by photography, video recording and observations made during the dives. All gathered information will be used in the production of detailed drawings of the wreck.

The project will be ended with the production of a written report on the proceedings of the project and the results obtained.

This report will, as a minimum, contain:

a description of the state of the wreck

sketches and drawings of the wreck

the result of measurements of parts/whole wreck

a description of the entire project

project dairy

documentation of the mixed gas dives

The final report will be distributed to sponsors, project members and anyone interested in the project.

Secondary objective

A secondary objective is to improve and propagate the knowledge on deep mixed gas diving. The project team will contain personnel with professional knowledge and medical experience of dive physics.

After each mixed gas dive, the divers will be examined and observed, and the observations will be recorded to form documentation of the state of each diver during the project implementation.

A Danish professor in diving physics will conduct the observations and will be present at all dives during the entire project.
